Missing Rugs

The following was recently shared with me and it's heartbreaking for a fellow rug hooker.  Please read the e-mail from Norma Batastini that was sent out on Sunday, June 24, 2012:

"Last week I was teaching a workshop in Ohio for a small group in a local church.  Two rugs were stolen from the church sometime after class on Tuesday and before class began Wednesday morning.  The room was filled with wool, hooking equipment including frames and cutters, other rugs and a
digital projector.  None of those items were touched.  Please forward this email on to your rug hooking guilds and groups.  If you are a frequent follower of Ebay, Craigslist or any other internet site that sells things I would appreciate it if you would be on the look out for the rugs.  I am
offering a reward for information leading to the return of the rugs.

Rug #1 is my Crocodile Mola design.  It was featured in the November/December 2011 issue of Rug Hooking Magazine.  It was exhibited at the ATHA Biennial exhibit in Lancaster, PA in October 2011 and at the Green Mountain Rug Hooking Guild exhibit at the Shelburne Museum in November 2011.
The rug is 36 x 48.

Rug #2 is my Pumpkins and Leaves design.  It was hooked by Linda Woodbury and has been exhibited at many local shows in New Jersey.  The rug is 28 x 40."

Art & Antiques Fair

Worked this fair in Tipp City today.  Had a little time to look around and found this bright, cheery hooked mat.  Yellow is not a color I'm usually drawn to, but loved this little mat.  I think it was the turquoise and one red flower that clinched it for me.

Pincushion Class

I had these great little tin holders made so any handmade pincushion can be attached witha spool of thread underneath.  So tonight, the ladies decided to make a circular pincushion, and then add a felted bird on top.  Didn't get quite finished, but got a good start.

Gardening

I normally have my flowers planted by Mother's Day, but this year I spent my time and energy helping my daughter at her new house.

But after seeing what Kelly did when I was at Sue's, I decided I needed to do a little more here at home.

Here are some of the results of my efforts today, love the colors.  Thanks for the inspiration, Kelly!

Felting Class

Spent today with some members of the Dayton chapter of the Embroiderer's Guild of America, teaching a basic dimensional needle felting class.  As you can see, they all did felted flower pins.  Then of course there was a little show and tell, and we've planned their next class.  This group has a lot going on, if interested in more click here.

Planning 2013 Workt by Hand

A quick trip up to Sue's to plan next years Workt by Hand with her and Melissa (Sally couldn't make it).  More info will come late this fall, but it's going to be good!  Kelly (Sue's daughter) has been gardening, and I love all the color.  I'm going home and will do more at my house.  It's always fun and inspirational being at Sue's.

Workshop in Utah

Just returned from a great time with these ladies, they definitely go over the top with decorations.  With a play on my name, we went to Wonderland.

With a choice of 2 kits (a flower or a bird) I taught different techniques to incorporate with their hooking.

One evening some of us went to visit Shepherd's Bush which is an amazing cross stitch store.  Framed pieces on all the walls, floor to ceiling, with all the threads, fabrics, etc. to stitch forever.  I just went around the shop and took photos of anything with a sheep on it, fun to see all the different ones.

Sign in the window of a restaurant where we ate one evening.  My grandsons found it amusing.

More work getting done...

One of my favorite things, show and tell, talented ladies...

Thanks ladies for a great time!!
