Thursday night we met at Kathy's for eats and stitchin'. The plan was to sit on the screened porch, but it was to hot and muggy. So, back inside. Kathy & Ruthann had their finished pincushions from last time, and Susie finished up her Halloween hanging.

Summer Olympics, 2012
My friend Donna has done it again with
this amazing rug that she has done for the rug challenge at the upcoming Sauder
Rug Show. Thought it would be great to share it on the day of the opening
ceremony of the Olympics in London. I think Donna deserves a gold medal for this
rug!!!

Fantasy Hair Show
My daughter Megan was chosen to be on
the creative team at her school of cosmetology. Last night she competed in a fantasy hair
show and won third place with the Queen of Hearts. She had to do costume,
make-up and hair, the works. I got in on the act and needle felted the hearts
for inside the hair crown, earrings and the train. So proud of her and her hard
work, what fun it was to apply needle
felting in a different way.

Embroidery Guild
I attended the Dayton chapter of The Embroiders Guild of America today. Their program was on crazy quilts. Which I have a great fondness for. There were old pieces and new pieces that some of the ladies are working on, and of course show and tell. Enjoy the pictures.

Cheri's Rug
Couple of weeks ago, Cheri brought a rug to me that she was struggling with. She could not get a "good" star using an 8 cut on these small stars. I suggested she try felting them and shower her how to do it. Today she came back with what she's done so far, and once again she likes her rug.

More Rug Punch
Trish stopped by to get wool for the back of her last lighthouse pillow (she's done 3). Also brought a stool she did this past weekend. She found the cast iron base for $10 at the flea market, then punched this great crow to fit the top. Great work.

The Only Flag that Doesn't Fly
Between the fields where the flag is planted, there are 9+ miles of
flower fields that go all the way
to the ocean. The flowers are grown by seed
companies. It's a beautiful place, close to
Vandenberg AFB. Check out the dimensions of the flag. The Floral Flag is 740
feet long and 390 feet wide and maintains the proper Flag dimensions, as
described in Executive Order #10834. This Flag is 6.65 acres and is the first
Floral Flag to be planted with 5 pointed
Stars, comprised of White Larkspur. Each
Star is 24 feet in diameter; each
Stripe is 30 feet wide. This Flag is estimated to contain more than 400,000
Larkspur plants, with 4-5 flower stems each, for a total of more than 2 million
flowers. For our
soldiers - please stop for a moment and say a prayer for our servicemen.
