{Surprise Post} Happy Birthday, Mom

To the woman who taught us

how to press on and pursue Christ no matter what circumstances you face

to NEVER compromise what we believe

how to be a caring, sacrificing, loving mom

that family is everything

that mistakes are ok if you learn from them

To the woman -

who our children adore

who encourages us

who prays for us and our family

who loves her grandchildren with every bone in her body

who is not only beautiful on the outside but radiant on the inside

who ages with grace and beauty

You are truly a woman of great character and beauty. You inspire us, Mom, to be a better mom. We see all that you do for us and our family {and all that you have done} and we am amazed and forever grateful. Our prayer is that we make you proud. That we make your heart happy. We love you and truly believe this will be your best year yet!
To the woman we're so grateful to call Mom:
Happy Birthday!!We love you - Jessica & Megan

Cookie Decorating

Had a fun time with the grandkids doing Christmas cookies tonight.  Then a little fun at my son-in-law's expense, using some roving and a felting needle.  The kids loved it!  Next year, maybe add some tinsel.

Needle Night Christmas

Another evening shared with great friends.  Wonderful food and lots of laughs.  Had to show the plate fresh raspberries stuffed with white chocolate chips, not only are they beautiful, but they taste great.  Then on to our ornament exchange, my favorite part.  These ladies out did themselves this year, with their original ideas. This is a random drawing and I got the replica of my cottage.  It is just amazing, the amount of hours Susie put into this.  It will be treasured for years to come.

A Primitive Christmas Blog Hop

It has been so much fun participating in this blog hop, seeing and reading about others Christmas traditions, getting some great recipes and new ornament designs.  My mom collected owls in the 60's & 70's so this little guy is in her honor.

I've always enjoyed decorating for the holidays, but have cut way back in the last several years, passing things on to my daughters.  I still put out my Santa collection of unique and mostly handcrafted pieces.

I also have several special nativity sets, and of course my tree is filled with family ornaments collected for years, again many of them handmade.

Last year my brother sent me a box of my parent's ornaments, so I've showcased them all together in an old fish bowl and placed it on a stand on my dining table center piece.

I've also included a few photos from the cottage, hope they inspire your holiday creativity.

Christmas for me has always been about family and friends, but first and foremost the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Merry Christmas!
