Snowy Spring Break

Spring break was one day longer for my grand kids because of 7" of snow. It was perfect snow for being creative. With the help of their mother and some watered down food coloring they brought to life a spring bunny with eggs and a rare Easter shark to their front yard. Love it!!

Punch Needle

Lori from Notforgotten Farm has once again created a wonderful punch needle pincushion, that she mounted on one of the tin sewing trays that I carry.  You can order the trays here and the punch needle pattern from Lori.

Miami Valley Weaver's Guild

Spent the afternoon with ladies in Yellow Springs needle felting pin cushions.  Once the techniques were taught everyone just did their own creations, always makes for a full filled class.

Blog Problems

Maybe you noticed the blog was down for several days.  We were trying to make changes and off it went into cyberspace!  It took us several days to get help to restore everything.  Anyway, we're up and running again.

Also, just a FYI - the texture workshop on Wednesday, before Workt by Hand is full.  We still have a few openings in the main workshop.

Needle Night

After sickness and foul weather, we were all finally able to gather again.  All sorts of different projects going on, stitching, applique, felting and hooking.  Everyone is gearing up for Workt by Hand.  Susie shared her birthday gift from our friend Jan in New Zealand.  It was great being together again.

FYI - the Monday night needle group is moving to the 2nd Thursday of each month.  Everyone is welcome!  The dates are posted on the website calendar.

Felting Details

Had a visit from a customer that wanted facial details on her rug.  It's a small area and she had hooked and unhooked it several times but was not happy with the results.  I suggested we needle felt on top of her hooking.  We were able to get the look she wanted, with great detail, in a matter of minutes.  A beautiful rug that will hang in her church.

Watch for an article I've done in Rug Hooking Magazine on 'Felting Details,' that will show other examples of felting with rug hooking.

Winter Woolen Workshop - Feb 23-24, 2013

Another fun weekend in Kokomo, IN.  Actually arrive early (ahead of a winter ice storm) and had time to explore a little of the downtown area.  City planners are trying to revitalize the area into more of an art district.  I love the old buildings and there are some great shops, galleries, and eateries springing up.

The Winter Woolen Workshop went without a hitch.  Vendors with wonderful things for sale, classes and demonstrations going on all weekend, and lots of show and tell.  If it's done with a needle or hook, you'll find it there.  Not to mention the two beautiful historical buildings the event takes place in.  It happens the last weekend in February, this was the 7th year, and I'm looking forward to next year.  Enjoy the pictures!
