Alabama Wool Sisters

I just returned from a fun filled week in Alabama.  These talented ladies are not only creative and open to trying just about anything I threw at them, but they have a great time doing it.  Elizabeth & Kristy from Magnolia Park Retreat have a wonderful facility, feed us extremely well, and are always willing to join the fun (or instigate it!).

We started the week with show and tell, finished and works in progress

This purse is hooked with t-shirts -

Once we started the workshop everyone got into trying different techniques.  I shared lots of needle felting (see my article in the latest issue of Rug Hooking Magazine, 'It's all in the Details').

Loved this apron of Elizabeth's!  Does this tell you anything about her sense of humor?

Our last afternoon we put down everyone's rugs to check progress and all the different techniques used.

Laurie's first time needle felting, loved her free form.

My hand painted velvet was used to hook the dress bodice

Elaine started this piece with me in PA at Barb Carroll's rug camp in May, finishing here in AL.  This will be the top of an ottoman - amazing work!!

The rest of the pieces

This little box was a gift to Elizabeth, love this saying

After the camp I got to spend a couple of days with my friend, Millie at her lake house.  Thought I'd share a few pictures from her place.  Another talented lady.

Can't wait to return to AL.  I'm on the calendar for 2015!
