Beth

I don't normally share personal things on my sight, but the world lost a great lady last night and me, a dear close friend. Beth Notaro of Beth's Main St. Folkart died last after just 5 short days in the hospital.

Beth was one of the most giving people I have ever known, giving her time and talents in so many ways and to so many people. An encourager and champion of all types of art, host of the Winter Woolen Workshop (just had the 9th year and she was so looking forward to celebrating the 10th). Served on endless committees to help revitalize downtown Kokomo, painting murals, planting flowers whatever was needed, volunteering weekly at the community center teaching art to the kids, and the list goes on and on. But her biggest love was promoting all types of needle art and encouraging women to express themselves with needle in hand, whether it was rug hooking, appliqué, stitching, knitting it didn't matter, she loved it all. Her Granny Bees will miss her tremendously.

On top of all this she was a loving wife, proud mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and amazing friend. Beth you will be sorely missed!

So, in the weeks to come if you pick up a hook or a needle please say a prayer for her family and friends, and think about sharing your talent with another in memory of Beth.

Cincinnati Ladies & my Granddaughters

Today started out with the ladies from Cincinnati that come up about once a quarter to take a class. Today they needle felted and the hooked a sheep on the hand dyed linen. They also brought along show and tell:

Then later that day I had two of my wonderful granddaughters for an afternoon of sewing and spending the night. These were their first sewing projects using kits for their American girl dolls.
Next time I think we'll just do our own thing, might be a little easier.

Western Reserve Rug Hooking Guild

Some how I managed to loose some of these photos and didn't manage to get them on in a timely manner, but better late than never.
I spent a delightful few days with these talented ladies, this guild has it going on. My wonderful hostess Kim was is not only a talented fiber artist, but a great cook as well. These first few photos were taken in her home of various projects she has done and collected. Loved my time there!

Then we move on to some show and tell from members in the guild. This group really has it going on! Wishing I could attend their hook in that they have in May.

The rest of the photos are from two days of class with me learning lots of new techniques and then applying them to their heart kits. Great work, and such enthusiasm!
