Needle Felting 101

Spent Saturday morning teaching a beginning felting class. Since the holidays are right around the corner I designed a stocking that can be finished and hung as decoration. After felting the crazy quilt pattern, everyone was then able to felt any details they wanted to personalize their stocking. Beads, buttons, stitching, glitter glue, etc. all to be added to enhance the details. Although they still had a ways to go to finish, it was a fun way to learn a new technique to use in future projects.

Crazy Pumpkin

Cynthia stopped by today to pick up more wool and threads for her Christmas projects and brought along her pumpkin made from her last purchases. Love the way the wool threads stand out against wool fabrics. Well done!

Student's Rug

This spring Mary Lynne was a student in my class at Barb Carroll's rug camp where she started this rug. She sent me a photo of the finished piece, isn't it fantastic?!! She was willing to try several different ways of filling those circles and I think the results are wonderful. A happy, fun piece. Karla Gerard this the pattern designer, she has many designs that lend themselves to get out of the box and try some different techniques with your hooking. Great job Mary Lynne!

Needle Night

Small gathering tonight, but the ladies never disappoint with the projects they bring to share. Love Bonnie's witch boot and her Indian corn, Kathy's working on a small fall piece where she's hooking into the wool.

Creative Workshop Oct 16 - 19, 2013

We started off this year's workshop with a little wine and cheese meet and greet, it helped break the ice so we could jump right in Thurs. morning. What a great time we had, so much creativity and lots of laughs. Ladies came from all over, even had a few new friends from Nova Scotia. The show and tell was amazing, lots of talent out there! Of course Marilyn did a great job with keeping us nourished.
Our theme this year was Welcome Home, so Karen and I each did our pieces, shared them with the ladies along with several other options and ideas. Everyone jumped right in and either did one of the patterns presented, or designed their own interpretation of what Welcome Home meant to them.
The first set of pics show the shopping available and the beginnings of some of the projects.

These show Karen and my pieces. Karen's bird nest and compass house, with her wonderful hit and miss background. I did a 3-D house and my daughter's house, Red Star Farm, each with a little needle felting.

For me the best part of all these workshops are those that participate. Meeting new people, forging new friendships, sharing and just having a good time. And I get to spend time with my friend Karen. Thanks to all of you that came, hoping we can do it again!
