Trish stopped by today for more yarn for some new projects and she brought the last piece she finished. All of her rugs are punched with yarn, and I love the button detail on the long johns. Great work!

Thank you to all who serve or have served, in the military (and their families) for preserving our freedoms.

Upper Valley Fiber Fest
This was a small show in Troy, OH, but lots of fun things to inspire. Baskets, weaving, spinning, paper making, felting and of course the animals who give us the raw materials.

Hooking Club
A small gathering today, but those that were here were busy with that last little bit of hooking or binding the edge of finished pieces. Then they'll be on to their next projects, trying to find time to hook and do all those other fun things we like to do when the weather is nice. Bev & Carolyn brought a couple of finished pieces to share as well. All are looking forward to Sauder in August!

Alzheimer's Rug
Donna Hrkman has done it again! Stunned me with her amazing talent with yet another remarkable rug. She will be displaying it at the Sauder Rug Exhibit in August.
I've seen the drawing of her challenge piece for the show, and knowing her talent it will be another mind blowing rug.

9th Annual Workt by Hand
The week started with a one day class exploring color. We did several short exercises which gave us all a new appreciation for color in the world around us. A great way to give the ladies that participated a new outlook before they started on their WBH (Workt by Hand) piece.
Our main workshop went from Thursday - Saturday and couldn't have been more fun or creative. Jan returned from New Zealand and Linda from England, others came from Oregon, Maryland, North & South Carolina, Indiana, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, and of course Ohio. Sisters, mothers and daughters and just good friends came together to create, share, laugh and have an overall good time in Tipp City, OH.
This years project centered around animals. The four of us (Sue, Melissa, Sally & myself) all did our own pieces which were then presented to the ladies along with all the patterns that we used. From there they all create their own designs and have opportunity to learn and all techniques that instructors used. Each piece will be a different as the ladies that create them. Lots of learning and sharing goes on through out the three days.
My piece mounted on canvas -
Sally's placed between glass in an old window -
Melissa made hers into a bag -
Sue did amazing embellishment with her stitching -
These next photos share more of Sue's work, goods for sale, the ladies learning new techniques and works in progress. Be sure to check Sue's blog to see more.
These are photos of the show and tell some of the ladies brought with them. Lots of amazing talent in this room.
I think if you ask anyone that was there, that they'll tell you that there's nothing else out there like Workt by Hand. It's hard to explain, and pictures just don't do it justice, but I know it holds a special place in my heart.
